On Saturday, 9/27, First Presbyterian Church conducted a Hurricane-Tropical Storm Emergency Evacuation drill to demonstrate stewardship over what the Lord has provided us.
On Saturday, September 27, First Presbyterian Church held a Hurricane-Tropical Storm Emergency Evacuation Drill to demonstrate stewardship over what the Lord has provided us. The purpose of this drill was to provide everyone with an overview of the plan, run through the checklist as if it were an actual evacuation, and identify any necessary improvements to the plan.
The effort was highly successful in several ways. Given the scenario of a pending weather event, the goal was to prepare the church efficiently, knowing we would also have to take care of our families and homes. By working on different rooms in parallel, we were able to prove we could complete the entire checklist in under 1.5 hours.
Although the existing checklist we had was complete, through everyone's participation and feedback, we identified several improvements that minimized some of the effort, yet allowed us to achieve the same level of protection in less time.
