Joining First Presbyterian Church

We are thrilled that you're interested in becoming a member of First Presbyterian Church! While everyone is welcome to attend our services and participate in our programs, you might reach a point where you want to make a deeper commitment and become a full member of our church.

Ways of Joining

The process is straightforward and usually takes place on Sunday mornings. You'll meet with our church elders, introduce yourself, share a bit about your faith journey, and then join through one of the following ways:

  1. Profession of Faith and Baptism: If you’ve never been baptized, you’ll join by Profession of Faith. You’ll be asked three questions about your faith, and after your answers, you’ll be welcomed as a member, with baptism scheduled during a Sunday service.

  2. Reaffirmation of Faith: If you’ve been a member of a Christian church before but aren’t currently active, you can join by Reaffirmation of Faith. You’ll be asked the same three questions, and once you answer, you’ll be welcomed as a full member.

  3. Transfer of Church Letter: If you’re currently a member of another Christian church, you can join by transferring your membership. We’ll handle the paperwork with your current church, and you’ll be welcomed as a full member here.

What happens next

No matter how you join, the process is overseen by the Session, which is our church's governing board made up of elected elders. If you have any questions or want to start the process of becoming a member, please contact our church office and speak with the pastor.
