Sunday, February 5
More than 20 years ago, the Souper Bowl of Caring began
with a simple prayer from a single youth group:
"Lord, as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game,
help us to be mindful of those without even a bowl of soup to eat."
Since that day, more than $81 million has been raised for
local charities across the U.S. through Souper Bowl of Caring. It
has become a powerful movement that is transforming the time around Super
Bowl weekend into the nation's largest celebration of giving and serving.
Through this mission, young people learn what it's like to
make a positive difference in the world.
Be part of this movement that is sharing God's love with
those in need. Every dollar and every item of non-perishable food
donated goes to St. Vincent's House Food Pantry, Galveston.
& a Super Bowl party at the church for Young Adults!
Bring snacks & (non-alcoholic) beverages.
Austin College Weekend at First Presbyterian
Galveston, February 17th - 19th:
Can you host one or more Austin College students in your home that
weekend? If you are willing, please contact the church office at
409.762.8638, email
scoggin@galvpres.net or sign up on the
sheet on the information table in Fellowship Hall.
Our congregation will be privileged that weekend to host a group of
students and faculty from Austin College, an extraordinary church-related
college in Sherman, Texas. Austin College was founded in 1849 by Daniel
Baker, then the minister of this church. AC has continued to flourish and
today is widely recognized for its academic excellence and as a college
that changes lives. Rev. Dr. David Green, pastor at First Presbyterian,
was a student at Austin College when his life was changed for the better.
On February 19th, our worship service will include participation by AC
students and the college President, Dr. Marjorie Hass.
The AC A Cappella Choir will sing in Sunday
Worship, and Dr. Hass will speak. Following Sunday worship, there
will be a light lunch & reception in Fellowship Hall.
Progressive Dinner, Saturday, April 14:
Sponsored by the Fellowship Ministry - host households
needed for appetizers, salad/soup, dinner, dessert.
FPC Fellowship Oyster Fest returns!

recipes and ingredients, outdoor fryers if you have them, chairs,
canopies. Learn how to shuck! Fresh oysters provided.
