Tales of an African Dog in Alaska, children's books by Jean Straatmeyer,
are still available. The books are about "Alaska Malawi", a dog born in
Malawi, adopted by the Rev. Gene & Mrs. Jean Straatmeyer, Americans who
were in Malawi before moving to Alaska. The Straatmeyers - and "Alaska
Malawi" - now live in Crystal Beach, Texas. Cost of the books are
$10 per copy (any additional donations will be gratefully accepted).
All proceeds of the book will be given to care of orphan children in
Malawi.

Life at First Presbyterian:
FPC's Child Protection Policy
Your Christian Education Ministry team has worked for a long time on a
children's protection policy, using resources from the Presbytery & General
Assembly, and in consultation with the Synod & our Presbytery's/church's
insurance representatives & attorneys. The Child Protection Policy was
approved by the Session in 2005. A link to the revised edition of the policy is
here:
What follows is the Child Protection
Policy
Additional training sessions are planned
for prospective leaders, youth group workers, substitute teachers
and early childhood workers, and for anyone else interested in learning more.
