Dr. David Green is doing a six-week Wednesday night class through February, meeting in the first floor library (Room
110), at 6:45 p.m., after the supper. Topic is "What We Believe," speaking
about changes happening now in the Presbyterian Church and to explain the
"alphabet soup" of groups & agencies that has developed in the
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in recent years.
Galveston Reads 2012:
First Presbyterian Galveston is
hosting a
Galveston Reads 2012 discussion of the novel Still Alice,
on Thursday, February 2, 6:00-7:30 p.m. This is FPC Galveston's
first participation in the annual Galveston Reads program.
Still Alice, a novel by Lisa
Genova, is the story of a fifty year-old professor of neuropsychology at
Harvard University who is diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease.
The New York Times best-selling novel follows an accomplished woman slowly
losing her thoughts and memories to a harrowing disease, only to discover
that each day brings new ways of living and loving.
Besides discussions held at local churches &
other venues, Galveston Reads 2012 events in January through March
include a Professors Panel Discussion, a movie night at Texas A&M
Galveston, a photography panel at Rosenberg Library during Art Walk, a
medical forum at UTMB, and a visit to Galveston by the author to speak at
UTMB and at Galveston College. For further information,
